General Paintball Safety Tips

Follow the rules, listen to the marshals instructions – and you’ll be fine.

* The number one rule in paintball is to keep your goggles on at all times when in a game zone, or when paintball markers are otherwise present (for example to the “gun zone” at a paintball centre).

* Never shoot someone with the barrel directly touching their body.

* When not playing, barrel plugs should be in use at all times .

* Never look down the barrel of a marker. Never assume that a marker is empty. Keep the marker pointed in a safe direction when not in use. It's best to assume that every marker is LOADED and treat it accordingly.

* Only wear masks that are made specifically for paintball. Sites that are mebers of the UKPBA have your safety as their first priority and will provide youwith purpose-built equipment.

* Replace your lens as needed. Never play with cracked or broken lens. If you damage a piece of equipment or find a fault, bring it to the attention of a marshall and they will have it replaced for you.

* Never alter your equipment. All equipment is kept in an optimum and SAFE operating condition. Altering the equipment may increase the risk of injury oir damage.

* It is best not to play, other than at a proper paintball site. Legitimate paintball sites are safe, controlled environments - places where someone else has to worry about insurance, risk assessments, training, supervision and control.

* Don’t tamper with the gas bottles that hold the propellant for the paintballs. These containers hold gas in a potentially dangerous state. The bottles and their valves should only be filled and/or serviced by qualified personnel. Mishandling of these items represents the greatest single source of serious injury, or death, in the sport of paintball.

* It must also always be remembered that paintball is not a contact sport – so no rugby tackling, flying-jump-kicks or anything like that – please!

* Keep yourself hydrated while playing; drink lots of water, even if you're not really thirsty.

* Stretch before you play.
